Frozen Green Peas Export from India: Gadhiya Group's IQF Peas Trusted by the World

The World Runs on Frozen Peas — And India Grows the Best

Frozen green peas are one of the most universally consumed frozen vegetables on earth. From family dinners in the UK to ready-meal production lines in Europe, from rice dishes across the Middle East to stir-fry sauces in Asia — green peas are everywhere.

What the world doesn't always know is that India is one of the largest producers of green peas globally, and that Indian IQF peas — frozen at peak tenderness — consistently rank among the best in international quality evaluations.

At Gadhiya Group, we have built a supply chain that takes the finest peas from India's rich growing regions and delivers them — bright green, perfectly tender, and nutritionally whole — to buyers on every continent.

Why Frozen Green Peas Are a Cornerstone of Global Food Trade

Green peas are not a seasonal niche product. They are a year-round staple with massive and stable global demand:

  • Ready-meal and convenience food manufacturing — Green peas are a core ingredient in hundreds of frozen ready-meal SKUs across the EU and North American markets.
  • Retail frozen vegetable category — Frozen peas are consistently among the top three best-selling frozen vegetables in major supermarkets worldwide.
  • Foodservice and catering — Hotels, restaurants, airline catering, and institutional catering services rely on IQF peas for consistent portion control and year-round availability.
  • Plant-based food sector growth — As demand for plant-based proteins rises, pea protein — derived from the same green pea crop — is driving renewed interest in pea sourcing and processing.
  • Infant and baby food — Pureed green peas are a foundational baby food ingredient globally.

India's Green Pea Belt: Gadhiya's Sourcing Advantage

India cultivates green peas across extensive growing regions with ideal agro-climatic conditions. Key producing states include:

  • Uttar Pradesh — The largest pea-growing state, accounting for a significant share of India's total output
  • Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand — Hill-grown peas with exceptional sweetness and tenderness
  • Punjab and Haryana — High-volume commercial cultivation
  • Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan — Extended season growing for winter and early spring harvests

India's diverse geography allows staggered harvesting across elevations and latitudes, providing Gadhiya Group with a reliable supply of freshly harvested peas across an extended season — which, combined with our cold storage capacity, enables year-round export supply.

From Field to Freezer in Under Four Hours

The golden rule of premium IQF green peas is speed. Peas begin converting their natural sugars to starch within hours of harvest — delaying the freeze means losing the sweetness, the vibrant green colour, and the tender texture that buyers pay a premium for.

Gadhiya Group has built our pea processing supply chain around one principle: minimum time from pod to IQF tunnel.

Harvesting at the Right Moment

Our agronomists monitor pea development with tenderometer testing — measuring the tenderness of each harvest lot to ensure peas are picked at precisely the right stage of maturity. Over-mature peas are starchy and dull; under-mature peas lack flavour. We harvest only at the optimal window.

Rapid Transport to Processing

Harvested peas are transported to our processing facility in refrigerated vehicles, maintaining a low-temperature chain from field to plant and minimising sugar conversion before freezing.

Vining, Cleaning, and Blanching

At the facility, peas are vined (separated from pods), washed, graded by size, and blanched in hot water at 95–98°C for 60–90 seconds to deactivate enzymes that would otherwise degrade colour and flavour during frozen storage.

IQF Freezing at −35°C

Blanched and cooled peas pass through our IQF tunnel at −35°C. Each pea is frozen individually, resulting in a completely free-flowing product that retains:

  • Brilliant natural green colour (no yellowing or greying)
  • Tender, non-mealy texture upon thawing
  • Full sweetness profile locked in at harvest
  • Shelf life of up to 24 months at −18°C

Certifications

  • FSSAI — Food Safety and Standards Authority of India
  • APEDA — Agro-export certified processor
  • ISO 22000 — Food Safety Management System
  • HACCP — Certified processing facility
  • EU, USA, Gulf, and UK import-compliant documentation and MRL testing

Green Pea Nutrition: A Simple Vegetable with Serious Numbers

Green peas punch well above their weight nutritionally — a strong selling story for retail and health food buyers:

Per 100g of IQF green peas:

NutrientAmount
Calories69–81 kcal
Protein5–6 g
Dietary Fibre5–6 g
Vitamin C40 mg (~44% DV)
Vitamin K24.8 mcg
Thiamine (B1)0.27 mg
Folate65 mcg
Iron1.5 mg
Manganese0.4 mg

With 5–6g of plant protein per 100g, green peas are one of the most protein-rich vegetables available — a compelling fact for plant-based food manufacturers and health-conscious retail brands.
